The starting shot will be fired on 18 August 2023. The starting signal for the EuroHockey Championships 2023 in Mönchengladbach. On the same day, the DANAS will start the European Championship tournament against Scotland. The German women's European Championship squad is led by the two captains Nike Lorenz and Sonja Zimmermann. The most experienced player in the squad is Anne Schröder with 190 caps, the youngest player is Linnea Weidemann at 19.

The national coach on the squad nomination
At the end of a very intensive and successful training course, I have today nominated the squad of the German women's national team for the European Championship in Mönchengladbach. I am very satisfied with the development of all the players in the last few weeks and if it were up to me, I would like to make it possible for all the players to take part in the European Championship. No matter where we played as DANAS in the last few weeks, whether in Wiesbaden, Limburg or Rüsselsheim, it was always sold out. The spark has jumped from the court to the spectators and from the spectators to the players. That makes us incredibly excited about a sell-out crowd at the European Championship in our living room. We will be looking for our chance in every game of the EuroHockey Championships 2023, no matter who is on the other side.
